Microweddings at Dunowen
- Small yet perfectly formed
Did you get engaged recently or are together a little longer and starting to think about wedding plans?
Congratulations from us!!
Now before you get swept up in the wedding planning bubble, it might be timely to read our thoughts on the trend for more intimate celebrations and why a microwedding might be perfect for you.
Dunowen House is not a traditional wedding venue but each year we are privileged to host a handful of intimate wedding celebrations in the house and gardens. The size of each wedding varies, with the smallest to date being 8 guests and the largest 30 guests. We have hosted groups from the USA, Canada, the Middle East, UK and Ireland – each with their own sense of tradition and style, yet with a desire to stamp their own personality on the occasion.
We are big fans of small weddings and love working with each couple to create an event that is personal, intimate and memorable for everyone involved.
From experience, the following are some of benefits in choosing to have a micro-wedding:
Get the benefits of an elopement and traditional wedding combined:
Have you thought eloping would be the best idea in the world, yet know you’d miss your favourite people too much? Well a micro-wedding combines the best of both options!
We are licensed to host official wedding ceremonies on site, so no need for a church or registry office if you don’t want one.
This historic house in a stunning coastal location in West Cork is exclusively yours for the entirety of your stay and celebrations, whether it’s for a two day or week long event. And if you want, all your guests can stay under the same roof with you!
Personalise the experience to your own taste:
We don’t offer a one size fits all, we don’t do a wedding package and we don’t have a wedding brochure to send you. Instead, we love to work with each couple to create an experience that is uniquely theirs, from the food to the flowers to the photo locations.
Instead of spreading your budget thinly with a larger wedding, why not concentrate on a fabulous food experience with options to suit every dietary request? Vegan, vegetarian, locally caught seafood, home-grown organic produce, farmhouse cheese & dessert tables….we can do it all.
Select amazing wines, craft beers and spirits to serve your guests – we don’t charge corkage so you can go the extra mile and indulge in the very best to bring with you.
We work with local West Cork flower growers such as Ruth Fortune Flowers, to create stunning bouquets and table displays to co-ordinate with our vintage tableware. We include a selection of floral displays complimentary for each wedding.
Spend your budget on the areas you know you and your guests will really appreciate and enjoy.
More quality time with your guests:
With a larger wedding, it can sometimes feeling daunting to get around and spend time with each guest on your big day. Keeping the numbers smaller means you get to share quality time with each guest and make each person an integral part of your celebrations.
At Dunowen House we can accommodate up to 23 guests on site, so you have the benefit of everyone in the one location and no concerns about transport in the small hours of the morning.
Relax and Enjoy the Occasion:
If the thought of being the focus of 250 pairs of eyes is enough to set the heart racing (and not in a good way), then a smaller affair will allow you to relax and just be you on the day.
A smaller celebration in a unique venue allows you both to set the rules….don’t be beholden to the expectations of family, friends and a venue. You decide on the type of wedding celebration you want because when you’re happy and relaxed, that vibe will be infectious.
If this sounds like your kind of thing and you’d like to get more information, then we’d be delighted to talk to you and help you plan your celebrations.
